We are a free NHS service providing a range of recommended talking therapies for common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Or in other words, we offer different types of therapies to help people who want support with depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.

We will offer an assessment to anyone aged over 16 years old who’s registered with a Telford and Wrekin GP, and who may be experiencing:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Panic
  • Health anxiety
  • Post traumatic stress disorder
  • Phobia
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Social anxiety
  • Post-natal depression

The support we offer will focus on helping you move forward and will concentrate on steps that you can take yourself to tackle your difficulties.

This can include many different options, from sign-posting to other agencies, to the support we offer directly. This includes telephone support, one-to-one intervention, and online therapy.

Yes, we are!  We've changed our name and we've moved offices, but we're still the same team. If you want to call us please note our telephone number has also changed - you can now call us on 01952 457415.

IAPT stands for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies. In other words, it is designed to make sure everyone can access therapy for mild to moderate mental health problems. Telford and Wrekin IAPT is part of this scheme that is found throughout England.

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which looks at the way we think (cognitions) and what we do (behaviours), and how that affects the way that we feel. It’s the therapy we offer the most, as evidence suggests many people benefit from it, but we do have other therapies available, depending on your needs.

Nothing. We are a free NHS service provided by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Most people are referred to us via their GP, however you don’t need to have a referral from your Doctor to contact us. For a faster service, you can fill in our self-referral form here: Self Referral Form, or call to arrange an initial telephone appointment with one of our Mental Health Practitioners, on 01952 457415.

During the initial appointment the practitioner will discuss your difficulties with you and concentrate on ways in which we can support you to help yourself improve your wellbeing. During your call we will ask you some questions to try to understand how severe your difficulties are at the moment.

If you cannot call us, you can email us at wellbeing.telford@mpft.nhs.uk with your contact details, and one of our administrators will call you to arrange the initial appointment.

All personal information provided to the Trust is treated confidentially. There are, however, some important times when we will need to share information with others in order to optimise your care. It is the responsibility of all health professionals to share some information with your GP and possibly other health care professionals. This is particularly important if there is information which would help to prevent you from harming yourself or someone else.

We see everyone aged 16 and upwards, provided you are registered with a Telford and Wrekin GP.

Our aim is to provide a telephone assessment for everyone within four weeks of contacting us. After that, waiting times vary depending on the type of therapy you opt for. The quickest way to access support is to sign up for our instant-access computerised CBT - see SilverCloud for more details.

We offer the majority of our sessions via telephone and video call, which helps people access us quickly and convienantly.  For those that need to see us face to face, we are based in the town centre, but we usually offer appointments in different venues around Telford, to make it easier for you to get to us.  Please note that if you wish to be seen face to face about a specific location and/or time, you may have a longer wait based on availability.  You can also sign up yourself to Computerised CBT here: SilverCloud.

There are clinics available before 9am, and until 7pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
